Pr. Ghatu Subhash

Professor Ghatu Subhash is the Newton C. Ebaugh Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA. He obtained his PhD from University of California San Diego in 1991 and conducted his post-doctoral research at CalTech. His research focusses on characterization and modeling of the multiaxial behavior of ultrahard structural ceramics. He has co-authored more than 300 research articles, 6 patents, a monograph on “Dynamic Response of Advanced Ceramics” (Wiley, 2021) and a 68-page article in Progress in Materials Science (2020) on the behavior of boron-rich icosahedral ceramics. He is a Fellow of ASME, SES and ACerS, and has received numerous awards and honors for his research contributions from professional societies. Prof. Subhash currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Mechanics of Materials journal and an Associate Editor of the Journal of the American Ceramic Society.
