Kunio Yubuta was born in Japan, on October 1, 1970. He received a PhD degree in materials science from Tohoku University, Japan, in 1998. In 1998, he joined to the Institute for Materials Research, Tohoku University. From 2020, he has moved to Kyushu University, Japan. He has performed structural characterization based on TEM/STEM observations for a wide variety of compounds from borides, oxides, silicides to intermetallic compounds. His current research interest focuses on crystallographic investigation of incommensurate, superstructure (commensurate), and disordered (with diffuse streaks) structures of borides.
